– The Innocence of Childhood

What’s something you used to believe as a kid that seems ridiculous now?

As a kid, I really believed that if you were good to people, they would always be good to you. It felt like the way the world was supposed to work. Growing up taught me that everyone has their own battles, priorities, and way of seeing things. Sometimes people appreciate your kindness, sometimes they forget it, and sometimes they even start expecting it. That doesn’t mean you should stop being kind. It just means you shouldn’t tie your kindness to expectations. Be kind because that’s who you are, not because you expect the same in return.

I also genuinely believed mermaids were real. I was a huge Little Mermaid fan, had Ariel’s poster on my wall, and held on to this tiny bit of hope that they existed somewhere deep in the ocean. I even avoided seafood because I wanted to protect marine life. Turns out I was wrong about the mermaids, and somewhere along the way I realized I actually like seafood.

Three Wishes 💛

You have three magic genie wishes, what are you asking for?

If I had three wishes, I wouldn’t ask for fame, fortune, or power. My heart would choose differently.

My first wish would be to see my father again — to hold him, to talk to him, to feel the comfort of his presence one more time. There are no words for that kind of longing, the kind that never fades no matter how many years pass.

My second wish would be for a Disney happy ending — the kind I grew up believing in. Those stories painted the world in soft colors, where good always triumphed and love healed everything. But life isn’t scripted by Disney. It’s raw, unpredictable, and sometimes painfully real. Still, a part of me can’t stop believing in a little bit of magic.

And my third wish… would be to see through people — not just their intentions, but their truths. To see their pain behind their smiles, their fears behind their anger, their love behind their silence. To understand people not for what they show, but for what they hide. Maybe then, the world would make more sense. Maybe then, we’d all be a little kinder.

Three wishes — love, hope, and understanding. Maybe that’s all any of us are really searching for.
